The Nordic Ecolabel
The official Nordic Ecolabel is introduced by the Nordic Council of Ministers, and it demonstrates that a product is a good environmental choice.
The purpose of the Ecolabel is to minimize impacts on the environment and our health from products and services. Criteria are developed for specific products and services. The setting of criteria is based on an assessment of impacts during the whole life-cycle - all the way from raw material to production, consumption and waste.
A Nordic Ecolabel product belongs to the least environmentally damaging products within their category and they must meet both environmental and health requirements and be of good quality. The environmental Requirements focus’s on degradation of nature, packaging and product performance. Health Requirements focuses on allergies and other serious effects. This is done by making demands on the individual ingredient and there are limitations of specific ingredients. You can read more about the Nordic Ecolabel website here.
